Translated as ‘The Idler’ and taken from an 18th century French copperplate, the original design was drawn by an artist names Dujardin for the Wesserling factory in Alsace. Scenes of young people playing and villagers involved in rural pursuits are shown in a romanticized landscape. This mixture of work and play was a popular theme in many toiles of this period. All colours co-ordinate with the fabric ‘La Musardiere’.
